The Disaster Communications Service prides itself in its ongoing training efforts. Below you will find the APCO Phonetics that we use when communicating difficult or confusing words.
 
Example: If you are reading a message and notice that a word may be complicated to hear, or the receiver does not understand the word, you can use the APCO Phonetics to break it down for them by letter. The word 'WORD' would be read as William Ocean Robert David.
