The Rapid Response Team (RRT) is made up of dedicated DCS members who, at a moment’s notice, can deploy anywhere in Los Angeles County and be up and operating within two hours of being activated.  RRT comes under the direction of the Emergency Operations Bureau (EOB) and deploys only when directed to do so by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s EOB personnel.

Team members will stay at an activation and assist the District whose area the activation is in as long as they are needed.  Within the RRT there is a group “First to be Called” who have volunteered to be available 24/7 and will deploy anytime to anywhere.

The team has recently been deployed to Catalina Island, San Diego County, Malibu, Santa Clarita and San Dimas,  just to mention a few.

To become a member of this elite team you must be a current member of the Los Angeles County Disaster Communications and have been a member for a minimum of one year.  Have your DCO send a letter of recommendation to the RRT Operations Officer, Rick Norwood, STAFF12@lacdcs.com.  With the recommendation of your DCO, you will be interviewed by the RRT Operations Officer as well as current RRT members.
