Amateur radio operators are needed for the Fiesta Days 5K and 10K run in La Cañada Flintridge on Memorial Day morning. This is a fund-raising event for the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA. DCS will provide communications along the course and at Descanso Gardens. The hours are 0600 to 0930 on Monday, May 28. To volunteer, please contact Gene Roske by e-mail reply or by phone at 818-388-5643. This is a DCS event.

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for the outstanding work everyone did during this last deployment regarding the Catalina Island Fires. Each and every one of you had an important role in the success of this operation. I have received numerous calls from different people asking me to pass along their thanks to you for the outstanding job you performed. This by far is probably one of the biggest tasks asked of our organization. It required us to have personnel on the island, at EOB, and personnel monitoring and scribing from home/work locations. Thank you for the outstanding work you all contributed to this operation. It is an honor for me to work with such a dedicated group that drops everything in your personal life to assist the needs of the people in Los Angeles County.

With last weeks deployment for Catalina Island, unfortunately we had to postpone our road trip to Santa Clarita Station for Identification Exchange. We have made arrangements to go Santa Clarita Station on Monday, June 4, 2007. Since last Monday was Santa Clarita's night to conduct the weekly net, they will conduct the net on Monday, June 4, 2007. Each station will have its scheduled net control night moved one week forward to accommodate this change. The Executive Staff does not want to miss visiting each station during the nets.

The identification exchange scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Lancaster Station was postponed due to the Catalina Island deployment. We have re-scheduled a new date of Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Anyone who still needs to exchange their old ID cards may attend date. If you are NOT assigned to Lancaster Station, and you would like to exchange your identification on this date, please email Debby Miles at kn6yap21-dcs@yahoo.com to make arrangements.
